happen. And make sure you have a fun time at it too.
This page is here to make joining us simple and easy. Hopefully
it will answer all your questions. If not, please drop us an email
and we'll answer them personally.
We also have a Frequently
Asked Questions page that might help answer your questions too.
• SF Quakes
- The team was founded in 1989 and is filled with players that
have been on it since then. The team plays at the Yerba
Buena Ice Center in San Francisco. They are in the Faultline
Adult Hockey League there and play in the "D" Division
(there are Div A to D). Some players have played all their life,
others only started a few years back. Turnover is low, camaraderie
is high, and the team plays hard. It's moderately competitive and
can get a bit rough (even though it is a no-check league).
What should you do to learn more and find out if the
team is a good match for you?
•
Come Watch a Game - we play all year round
and the game schedule is posted here on the site. There are usually
fans in the stands and teammates who are more than happy to talk
to you after a game. It's a great way to see the level of play and
talk to some of the players. The SF team usually goes out for drinks
(usually at LoneStar) after their earlier games (always 8pm games
and sometimes after 9:30pm games). We'd love to have you join us
for drinks too.
• Attend Stick Time with
a Quakes player - several rinks in the Bay Area offer "stick
time"/"Gretzky Hour" sessions where you can informally
practice skills (full equipment required). Find a
session time at one of the rinks below and send an email to the
Quakes so a player can join you for a fun practice and tell you
more about our teams.
