*I'm one of the founding members
of the SF Quakes responsible for our first meetings held at the
Castro Country Club in the Fall of1996. I suppose
I'm one of the founding members of the Oakland based Quakes Duex.
I guess I'm one founding Motha F#&%@
Q: How'd ya get into hockey anyway?
A: I watched a friend play in the 1990 Gay Games. It was a medal
round game between the LA Blades and a Vancouver team that was thrown
together at the last minute. It was an exciting game where the straight
guy on Vancouver kept getting penalties. While I had little knowledge
of hockey, I thought, "Hey, I could play that game". Karen
and I were both looking for a different sport to compete in a future
Gay Games. Eight years later we won our 1st game in our Quakes jerseys
against the DC Nationals in the 1998 Gay Games in Amsterdam.
Q: Tell me about your experience with the Quakes.
A: It's been Great. Being a member of the Quakes has been more fulfilling
than simply playing hockey because of the friendship and camaraderie
(parties and tounament play).
Q: How did your Heine get to be so round?
A: From playing hockey, of course.
Q: Whoís your favorite NHL Goalie?
A: Martan Brodeur (NJ Devils), Evgeni Nabokov (SJ Sharks)
Q: Favorite thing about playing with the Quakes?
A: Tournaments are a favorite. Playing Goalie is another. (I'm allowed
to have two favorites because I'm on two teams).
Q: Anything else you would like to share with us today?
A: Quakes Pride! It's gay pride, or gay friendly pride, at the least,
while playing hockey - hella-fun!
