San
Francisco Quakes
7-Strong SFQuakes Dominate
11 Dogs
With
only seven skaters, we knew we had to take an early lead to
have any hope of holding on to the game. Fortunately James
was up to the task and put us on the board, with some help
from Marcus. In fact, James had quite a night, scoring twice
more last night for a hat trick! Marcus had a great night
as well, getting a goal and two assists. And blue liner sub
Jim scored his first goal of the season by going coast-to-coast,
faking a slapshot, and then lofting the puck high into the
far top corner of the net. John only allowed one goal-- it
was after we had a failed clearing attempt and the Prairie
Dogs shot from the point past traffic in the slot. Final score
was 5-1. Our three defense of Hutch, Jim, and Kieran did a
stellar job. It helped having Dan sitting on the bench with
us the whole game, giving us encouragement and advice. Hopefully
he'll be getting the cast off his foot on Tuesday immediately
taking to the ice in Oakland that night!.

Silver Quakes
SilverQuakes Loss 7-4
vs. Blitz
It
was so close. After period 1 it looked like we were going
to take home the bacon. Unfortunately, we missed a few scoring
ops and made a few defensive errors, allowing the Blitz to
win yet another game. However, it was still a fun game and
we did play well, putting up a great fight for most of the
game. The Quakes made it to the board first when Robert, Keihl
and Hogan lined up for their first shift. Robert made a nice
move and drove to the net to place it nicely. Soon after,
Victor scored assisted by Keihl. The Quakes were now ahead
2-0 vs. the division's 2nd best team! And, only 3 minutes
into the game! The Blitz managed to catch up with their second
goal. Now it was 2-2. Was our momentum gone? Hell no, Keihl
popped one in, assisted by Ian, to take back the lead. The
lead lasted until the Blitz, with a minute remaining, tied
it up again. Period 2 saw only one goal and it went to the
Blitz. Again, # 19 took a long shot which looked like it had
been stopped but managed to squeeze through John's pads and
trickle over the line to everyone's surprise. Period 3 was
a different story. Once again the magic of Keihl and Ian gave
us a goal early in the period to tie it up at 4-4. What a
game! That's when the wind shifted. We were getting all the
bounces up 'til then, now it was the Blitz's turn. They managed
3 goals in the last half of the period, to end the game 7-4.
Overall
we played well and the game could have been ours. It certainly
was not lop-sided. It was actually a very evenly played game.Mr.
Keihl was busy with 2 goals and 2 assists, with a point earned
for every one of our goals. Good job Mike. Newcomer Ian is
proving his worth as he assisted both of Keihl's goals.Robert
has a special relationship with the Blitz as he has scored
the first goal of each game we've played against them. We
had 4 penalties, but managed to kill every minute we were
short. We did lose a goal when it was a 4 on 4, but I won't
count that as a PK.
